WHO Director-General visits the Republican Sanatorium for Tuberculosis and Respiratory Diseases for Children and Adolescents named after Professor Gindes of the Ministry of Health
Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General of the World Health Organization, who is currently on a visit to Azerbaijan, visited the Professor Gindes Republican Sanatorium for Tuberculosis and Respiratory Diseases for Children and Adolescents together with Teymur Musayev, Minister of Health.
Teymur Musayev, Minister of Health, provided detailed information about the activities of the institution, as well as the measures implemented for the prevention, early diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of tuberculosis and other respiratory diseases among children and adolescents. The Minister noted that, in accordance with the relevant decrees of Ilham Aliyev, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, a new building of the Professor Gindes Republican Sanatorium for Tuberculosis and Respiratory Diseases for Children and Adolescents has been constructed in Baku. It was emphasized that the sanatorium provides the necessary medical and social rehabilitation services for the comprehensive treatment of patients, while modern medical approaches and preventive programs are being implemented.
Following this, the participants familiarized themselves with the treatment and diagnostic departments, as well as the laboratory and rehabilitation facilities of the institution. It was noted that modern medical equipment is used at the sanatorium, and comprehensive measures are being implemented to restore patients’ health and support their social adaptation.
Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General of the World Health Organization, highly appreciated the conditions created at the sanatorium and the work carried out in the field of treatment and rehabilitation of children. He noted that the fight against tuberculosis remains one of the key priorities at the global level and emphasized the importance of cooperation between the World Health Organization and Azerbaijan in this area.
The guests also met with children receiving treatment at the institution and became closely acquainted with the conditions provided for their treatment and rehabilitation.
At the end of the visit, the Director-General of the World Health Organization held a cordial meeting with the staff of the sanatorium, familiarized himself with their activities, highly appreciated the work carried out, and wished them success in their future endeavors.
