A meeting was held at the Ministry of Health of Azerbaijan with officials from the World Health Organization (WHO) - Maria Neira, Director of the Department of Public Health, Environment, and Social Determinants of Health, and Robb Butler, Director of the Department of Infectious Diseases, Environment, and Health of the WHO European Regional Office, who are part of the COP-29 negotiating group.

Welcoming the guests, Minister of Health Teymur Musayev noted that our country closely collaborates with the World Health Organization: "Azerbaijan attaches great importance to this cooperation. Over the past period, a number of joint projects have been successfully implemented in our country and at the regional level."

Emphasizing that President Ilham Aliyev attaches great importance to further expanding interactions with this Organization, the minister noted the meeting of the head of state with the WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus during his visit to Azerbaijan to participate in the XI Global Baku Forum.

It was also noted that in November of the current year, Azerbaijan will host the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change - COP29: "President Ilham Aliyev emphasized that the decision to hold COP29 in our country, adopted with unanimous support from the international community, demonstrates great trust in Azerbaijan. According to the head of state, Azerbaijan, by organizing this event, is fully committed and intends to contribute to the process of combating climate change at the global level and, with successful actions at the national level, to the process of green transition."

In his speech, Teymur Musayev emphasized that regular meetings with the heads of the relevant WHO structures give an additional impetus to our relations: "At the same time, this contributes to deepening cooperation between the Ministry of Health of Azerbaijan and the World Health Organization."

In turn, the heads of WHO departments thanked for the warm welcome and highly appreciated the importance given by President Ilham Aliyev to cooperation with the World Health Organization. Expressing satisfaction with participation in the XI Global Baku Forum, the guests noted its excellent organization.

The heads of WHO departments also noted that hosting COP29 in our country is a significant achievement for Azerbaijan. It was emphasized that the structures led by them within the World Health Organization are ready to provide comprehensive assistance to Azerbaijan during its presidency at COP29 and the conduct of this session.

During the meeting, opinions were also exchanged on other issues of mutual interest.
