A meeting was held at the Ministry of Health of Azerbaijan with Ms. Armida Salsiah Alisjahbana, Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP).
Welcoming the guests, Minister of Health Teymur Musayev emphasized that Azerbaijan has been effectively cooperating with various specialized structures of the UN, including UNESCAP. The minister noted that Azerbaijan became a member of the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific in 1992, and during this time, has established high-level bilateral relations with the majority of member states of UNESCAP.
Highlighting that UNESCAP serves as an important platform for cooperation, especially in the areas of transport, digitalization, energy, and other fields of mutual interest, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Health expressed confidence that bilateral relations will continue to develop further.
Expressing her gratitude for the warm reception, UNESCAP Executive Secretary Armida Salsiah Alisjahbana emphasized that the hosting of the Summit in Azerbaijan in November 2023, on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the United Nations Special Programme for the Economies of Central Asia (SPECA), was a significant event.
She stated that she is interested in establishing effective cooperation with Azerbaijan's Ministry of Health and noted that UNESCAP will contribute to the development of digital health and healthcare in its member countries.
During the meeting, an exchange of views also took place on other issues of mutual interest.
