In the capital of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the XI Global Baku Forum on the theme "Fixing The Fractured World" is taking place.

During the forum, the Minister of Health, Teymur Musayev, spoke at the panel session "Health for All" of the XI Global Baku Forum.

Teymur Musayev noted that the recent global threats faced by humanity prompt us working closely on fixing the fractured world: "Since ensuring security and health for all have become the matters of utmost urgency, I am confident that today's discussions will contribute to strengthening our joint efforts towards achieving the goal. Better preparedness and adequate strategy require a resilient global health infrastructure."

According to the minister, old traditional approach to the healthcare could not be reconciled with the demands of the 21st century: "Technological development in the IT sector has allowed the realization of the concept of 'Health for All. Digitalization of healthcare is a transformation of healthcare not only from a technological side, rather and foremost from a cultural point of view. Digital technologies are taking the doctor - patient relationship to the different level in common decision - making process. It has paved the way for emergence of new health paradigm shifting from facility centered to citizen centered one."

Emphasizing the implementation of a socially oriented policy, transition to digital governance, and economic diversification during President Ilham Aliyev's presidency in Azerbaijan, the minister stated that these factors have ensured the sovereignty and recognition of our republic as a leading country in the region. "For the past 20 years, Azerbaijan has done a tremendous work for scaling up the national healthcare system regarding the infrastructure, human capital and healthcare financing", noted the minister.

According to him, the Decree of the head of state dated December 25, 2023, underscores the role of the Republic of Azerbaijan as a reliable and responsible member of the international community actively contributing to the fight against the consequences of climate change: "Its obvious proof is hosting COP29 conference in November this year."

Highlighting that 2024 has been declared the "Green World Solidarity Year" in Azerbaijan, the minister noted that our health is closely linked to the environment we live in: "Climate change significantly impacts on our health, well-being and safety."

Teymur Musayev also emphasized that the concept of "Health for All" is particularly important in terms of ensuring safe return of former internally displaced persons to their native lands. According to him, within the framework of the First State Program "Great Return," the Azerbaijani Government is doing a huge work on restoration and rebuilding of the devastated liberated territories: "The Ministry of Health of the Republic of Azerbaijan together with the World Health Organization has started a project of psychological support for the healthy integration of the population in the liberated territories. "

"We encourage WHO as a global coordinating health authority, to keep setting norms and standards to protect health and well-being of the world population", concluded the Minister of Health of Azerbaijan.
